Following our consultation with parents earlier in the year, our nursery provision has been extended from September 2017, to offer up to 30 hours of funded nursery education to families who are eligible.
All children are offered 15 hours of funded nursery education per week (morning sessions 8.30 to 11.30am or afternoon sessions 12.30 to 3.30pm). In addition to this, eligible families can combine morning and afternoon sessions to cover the whole school day (8.30am to 3.30pm). Parents can check if they are eligible on www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.
This is an excellent opportunity to help meet the demand for good quality, teacher-led nursery education to give children a good start to their school careers.
Children are eligible for funded places the term after their third birthday. If you are looking for nursery provision for your child, please speak to the office staff for more information.
It’s non-uniform day on Friday 23 June. In exchange, we ask that children bring in a small token that may be used at the Summer Fete. To ensure that we get an even spread of gifts we ask that children donate from the list below.
- KS1: Sweets/Chocolates
- KS2: Jars/ Bottles. eg. candle in a Jar, bubble bath, coin counting jar, bath salt in a jar, wine, Jam, chutney, cake mix in a jar, cheese, cookies in a jar, sports bottle, shampoo.
Please bring the gifts with you Friday. Thank you
Following our consultation with parents in April 2017, we can now share the findings of our parental survey. As a result of what parents told us we are pleased to announce that from September our session times will be:
- Morning – 8.30 to 11.30am
- Afternoon – 12.30 to 3.30pm
These sessions will allow all children attending to receive their full 15 hour entitlement of nursery education. We will then be looking to extend sessions for parents who are eligible for 30 hours of provision as soon as possible.
To find out more, please come along to our Nursery Open Afternoon on Wednesday 21 June 1.30 to 3.00pm. All parents are welcome to drop in and find out about nursery education at North and our plans to extend provision from September 2017. Please contact the school office on 01206 574225 or email@example.com to let us know if you’ll be attending.

We are just 4 weeks away from the half marathon and our runners have been braving the cold weather to train hard to complete the course on Sunday 12 March.
This year the Colchester Half Marathon organisers will be donating all proceeds from the main event to The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust, a charity which receives only limited funding and relies heavily on donations. We wish them all a great event and success in their fundraising.
Our involvement in this community event has been a major part of the success of the Free for All campaign and North are hugely grateful that we have been allowed to enter a team for the 4th year running, to raise sponsorship, which benefits all the children at our school. Our heartfelt thanks go to the organisers and to all our runners and marshals who make our involvement possible.
Everyone will know someone who is running or volunteering on the 12th – staff members, friends, colleagues or a parent of a child in the same class. Please support them by sponsoring them, cheering them on at the race and helping us make this a record-breaking event!
Good luck to everyone.
