Parents

We are committed to working with parents to ensure every child can succeed. The more parents know about school, the more they can support their child at home. The more the school understands each child, the better we can meet their needs. This is our partnership. The Home Learning Policy is a useful guide for parents. The policy is reviewed annually taking on board the views of the children and their parents as well as teachers.

Home Learning

Tapestry is an interactive digital learning platform for Early Years and Infants. Home learning for Juniors is sent via Parentmail. Class weekly newsletters which summarise learning for the week and anticipate the coming week’s key themes are also emailed by Parentmail.

How to help your child to be a visible learner
Educational Consultant, Helen Blanchard ran a very successful workshop for parents to find out how they can help their children to become visible learners. Please see the Newsline  for a report on the visit, her full presentation is available to download here.

Keeping Parents Informed

There are opportunities throughout the year to discuss your child’s progress with the class teacher: Nursery and Reception children have Stay and Learn sessions when parents can observe and participate in a lesson with their child; for children in Years 1 to 6, Open Afternoons are an opportunity for parents and grandparents to come into school and see the children’s work.

How this partnership works is summarised in the Home School Accord. Parents and children are asked to read through this document and sign it. The headteacher signs it on behalf of all the staff of the school.
