Assemblies
Our United Nations
This is the theme for the school assemblies this year. The theme was launched in assembly on 13th September and links were made with Colchester becoming a city.
There was an event planned for the 12th September to launch a year of celebrations, which was postponed as it fell within the nations period of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II,
I used the words of the leader of the council, Cllr David King, to draw comparisons with our school where we welcome people – children, families, staff and visitors from all over the UK and the world.
During the assembly I asked the children to name all the countries they have connections with. One class alone has connections with 25 countries!
Through the course of the year members of our community will be invited to tell us about their country of heritage. Their slide shows will can be seen on the links below. The stories and information shared during the assembly will not accompany the slides – you will have to ask your child to tell you all about them.
